APA Style Converter Instructions

To properly format your paper, please follow these instructions:
Simply cut and paste the specific sections of your manuscript. Do not include section headings (i.e. Method, Results, etc), just the text that belong to that section.  Please include other headings or subheadings with the text, placing them on a line above its text.  The APA Style Converter formats all common headings, however, if there is a special heading, please click here for correct format.  The same is with statistical variables: all common statistical variables are already formatted, however, for personal variables, please click here for correct format.  A list of all common headings and statistical variables are located here.  The current version allows you to output either a PDF file, or a RTF file. If you want to modify the output, we suggest that you use the RTF output and open the file within Word. If you use the PDF output, you should upload your figures and tables as jpeg (jpg) images before you do the conversion; click here for help. Also, if you have footnotes, you should use the RTF output. To correctly format footnotes, please click here.  If you have any questions or need further information on the APA Style Converter, please contact pli@richmond.edu or krystal.cunningham@richmond.edu.

We welcome your feeback, comments, and suggestions.

Convert to JPG Images (PDF conversion only)
To convert text or tables to jpeg (jpg) images, you must have a photo editor applications (i.e. Photoshop, Macromedia Fireworks, etc). It is easier just to copy the text or table from a word processor application (i.e. MS Word, etc) and paste it onto a new file in the photo editor program.  Then resize the image to have no more then 450 pixels for the width and no more than 551 pixels for the height.  For text images the width must be 450 pixels.   When done with the resizing of the image, make sure to save the image as a jpeg (jpg).

Footnote (RTF conversion only)
If you have footnotes, we suggest that you use the RTF output option. To indicate where the footnote should occur in the text, please insert {Foonote #} in the appropriate place of the text, and then type the actual footnotes with numbers in the Footnote dialogue box (e.g., 1. Footnote one is a footnote.).
